Sometimes a project needs to make room for commissioned work and is put on hold for a while.

I come across it every now and then, look at it, and decide if I should continue with it, but I don't have the time, and then I put it aside again. And suddenly, 10 years have passed. Well, now the energy I felt back then is no longer right; and it's put aside again.

During a small renovation in the studio, it reappeared. And suddenly I knew what to do next.
With an addition to the image—a new layer—it suddenly makes perfect sense again. And I understand what I started painting 10 years ago. Just like with the sculptures, I start with an idea, a feeling, or an emotion, and that evolves along the way. And often, it's only when it's finished that it finally clicks into what I've actually created.

So now finally further and after years again with oil paint.
